For pet areas we use an antimicrobial infill with a fully permeable backing so urine passes into the base instead of sitting in the fibre. Specifications worth insisting on: 60 to 100 ounce face weight, UV-stabilised fibre, permeable backing rather than punched drainage holes, and a properly compacted base.
